Independent Study of Kampus Merdeka
Independent Study of Kampus Merdeka is a program for students who carry out independent learning outside of campus in programs organized by selected companies that are partners of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology.
The ICE Institute itself has held the first Certified Independent Study program this year, namely the Microcredential Game Developer Program. Certified Independent Studies are held to provide opportunities for students to prepare themselves to enter the professional world according to their interests and talents. Participants will be guided by expert teachers and mentors from universities who have partnered with the ICE Institute for 5 months.
Microcredential Game Developer Program
ICE Institute is an online learning center that is accredited by the Ministry of Education and Culture. Provides a variety of online lectures from many universities and online learning providers throughout Indonesia. The main objective of the ICE Institute is to facilitate the provision of quality education while ensuring the quality of online learning and distance education services. Through the ICE Institute, users will find it easier to choose the right online courses for career development in the Industry 4.0 era. ICE Institute is the Indonesia Cyber Education Institute which was inaugurated by the Director General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology on July 28, 2021.
ICE Institute is the answer to meet the era of the industrial revolution 4.0 which has changed the perspective on education. The changes made are not just the way of teaching, but are far more essential, namely changing the perspective on the concept of education to be holistic, no longer partial. In the era of the industrial revolution 4.0, everything becomes borderless with unlimited use of computing power and data. This happens because it is influenced by the development of the internet and massive digital technology as the backbone of the movement and connectivity of humans and machines.
The ICE Institute is expected to be able to play a role in increasing the expansion of access and equity in the quality of education to encourage the Education Participation Rate (APK) to 40%. ICE Institute will also help fulfill the needs of lifelong learners through the provision of quality learning systems and content that can be accessed anytime and anywhere.
A. Purpose of the Game Developer Microcredential Program
Indonesia’s higher education ecosystem is an opportunity to accelerate the creation of gaming talent. The development of game curriculum in higher education in Indonesia is still a challenge for various universities. University collaboration that already has a game developer study program is an opportunity to develop a superior game curriculum in order to generate organic growth in the game industry chain for the development of game developer talent in Indonesia as part of the freedom learning of Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program.

C. Stream and Capstone Project of Microcredential Game Developer Program
There are 5 (five) streams, namely game artists, game project management, game designers, educational game developers and game programmers. The capstone project in the microcredential game developer program has 2 (two) options, namely educational games and game programmers. Participants must choose one stream at the time of registration, it is recommended that in selecting this stream, participants can consult with the department first. After the learning process begins, participants are not allowed to switch to another stream during the study period. After undergoing lectures for approximately 1 month, participants will start choosing a stream capstone project. In the process of selecting streams for the capstone project, participants can discuss with available mentors. It is recommended that participants during the lecture process get to know each other with other participants in different streams, because the capstone project is a collaboration of 5 existing streams. After selecting one stream in the capstone project, participants cannot switch to another stream during the study period.
Learning Outcomes of The Game Developer Microcredentials Program
At the end of the program, participants/students can create digital games. In particular, each stream has the following learning outcomes:
